Out of Comfort Zone?

Firstly can I say a huge THANK YOU to all of you that commented and encouraged me on my first ever blog post! I am beyond chuffed/stoked!!

Now, why the heading? Well, I "don't do layouts" ~ or so I thought. Then an opportunity to apply for a DT came along and their request was for 2 layouts & one other piece, using chipboard. I love using chipboard and a wonderful cyber buddy had generously sent me some (from America? I know, SO kind!)
This is where I would put a link to her blog but I still haven't learnt to "link". However I can write her blog address which is myscraptherapy.com. I really hope you will check out her amazing creativity, she hugely inspires me & many others!
So, back to layouts, I decided to just go for it. What's the worst that can happen? They don't accept me. Well they didn't. Hey ho?
What was important is that I ventured into the unknown and thoroughly enjoyed the process.
So my message (for what it's worth) is GO FOR IT! Step outside your comfort zone and see where it takes you. You might just be surprised?!
Below are the 2 layouts. Please excuse lack of "tidying up" with photography. Hopefully you still get the idea...
Thank you for joining me today. As I am still new to blog land, please do let me know where I can improve; Should I explain any methods I use, tell you about products? What have you found helpful when posting on your blogs? Any suggestions are gratefully received. I read all comments you might want to leave & try to reply to them all. I really do appreciate that you take time to 'pop in'!!
See you next time.... Caroline x

Yeah...you have a blog! perhaps you add a link for people to follow you, I cant find it. I love both layouts! Working from a picture is (well for me) the easyest way.. Because the picture can give you the mood, colors and inspiration. It is also a subject point, something I find difficult to make myself in for example journaling. Now to your layouts. GREAT! That hat in the first onne, superrrr. And on the cat one I like the design , the circles make it modern and the flowers in the right place, nothing overdone.Beautiful Caroline!

Your blog post link has just come through to my FB page so I'm here having a read - as you said over there, I've already seen the fab layouts so I won't repeat myself.
Really just wanted to say "yay, second blog post" ! ...and it's a good one too.
I'm never really sure what to write about in mine either unless I'm explaining about how I've created something - but I'm looking at it kind of like a diary so any amount of ramblings will do won't it ? lololol x

these are both beautiful! I love the photos , colors , designs on them. The textures on the chipboard on the canvas are amazing. Please tell me how you did them.

Thank you so much for coming by and commenting even though you have seen them before. I am just trying at the moment to give people an idea of what I have done so going back to previous "makes". Will start to put fresh things up soon. Lol, ramblings are my forte but I tried to stick to the point here. I do think as our blogs, more than anywhere, are our places to express ourselves, for me, there are no real dos and don'ts,no doubt I will continue to waffle and ramble away!? The diary idea is cool, I am often interested in the person as well as the pieces.....Take care & thanks again matey!! :))

Hey Melissa, how cool to have you come by my new place!! Thank you so much for your generous comment. The pictures are actually not photos, cat came from a newspaper and the girl with mad headdress was found in a magazine. As soon as I saw her, I knew I wanted to do something with her! As to how I did texture on chipboard; there is heat embossing, paints, Promarkers and Posco pens. Basically, whatever I had to hand, lol... Both are on 12x12 papers so they became a little warped but hey, that's ok. Hope that answers your question. Thanks again for your continued support, I really do appreciate it! Take care & Say hey to Mack. :))

I thought I had replied yesterday, my apologies ( I even remember typing it about what had influenced my choices for the layouts, how bizarre that it isn't showing?)
Anyway.... Thank you so so much for your generous comment, I really am so happy you made the time to pop in, truly appreciated! Not sure I will do lo's regularly but I did enjoy the process and experience.
Regards the link for peeps to follow I have tried what you suggested but I think (if I selected the correct button), it will exchange my profile pic and info to my Google account info. I don't really want to do that. I will keep playing and see if I can find another way. In the meantime, anyone is welcome to follow via email (which is how I follow blogs). I will go and look at others' blogs and see how they have it set up and then think again.
Thank you for being such a great support, encouraging me & helping me too. You are such an inspiration to me & many others! Take care. C :))

Mack says hey back, and thanks for the greeting!

Thanks also for your reply. I think ide have to watch your treatment of the chips on a utube. Or a picture tut? I guess it's a lot of layers.

Oh bless Mack!
Ok, more details of what I did? Let me get it straight in my head (I did it a while ago now, need to remember) & I will try to either do a step-by-step or at least an explanation. Thank you for feedback, it really helps. I will take it with me & do my best to apply to future posts. Of course I don't do anything complicated but I understand that need to know so will do my best for you, Melissa! Tk care : )

The circles are actually die cuts of scrap paper. Completely by chance, I had previously been testing paint on said scraps. Then testing circle dies with them as I try not to waste good paper. Once in place on layout, I added a small amount of silver metallic paint & dry brushed gesso. That really is it? Hope that answers for you. C. :)))

Ok, I almost forgot to come back here. These are absolutely amazing! Your headdress is so unique and creative and the background is gorgeous...and the second one is just so beautiful! You should not hesitate to share, you create inspiring art! :)

Awe, shucks Misty (blushing)? You are a treasure & so generous! I am glad you like how I used your wonderful gifts (hoarding the rest, lol)... As with quite a few of my makes, you were the inspiration behind these. Totally! I followed your encouragement & "went for it"! When I saw who had been chosen, I felt a little foolish. But actually, overall, I am so pleased I took up the challenge, thoroughly enjoyed it! Especially that headdress. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Blessings to you & yours. C x

How did I miss this, Caroline - I'm especially loving that fabulous 'blue cat' piece, as I've just said goodbye to a dear cat friend who owned us for 16 years. As for blog tips, frequent posts seem to work for me, with lots of photos and an 'at home' feel. Loving it so far!
